The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) received more applications for the SDE+ autumn round than can be granted. This second renewable energy subsidy round for 2018 received applications for 5,907 projects with a total budget claim of around € 7.7 billion while there is only € 6 billion available in this round. This is what Eric Wiebes, Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy informed the Parliament in a letter yesterday.
Solar PV and wind are good for 80% of the budget
All projects together account for an annual production of 35.1 PJ. Solar pv was good for 5,636 projects with a total capacity of 3.7 gigawatt-peak and budgeted at €4.1 billion. In second came wind energy, with 153 applications with a total capacity of 822 MW and a budgeted value of around € 2 billion. Together they are good for 80% of the total budget claim.
RVO carries out the SDE+ for the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy. SDE is an operating grant for renewable energy projects in the Netherlands, including renewable electricity, renewable gas, renewable heat or a combination of renewable heat and electricity (CHP). Eligable applicants are companies, institutions and non-profit organisations.
Interested parties were able to submit their applications for this SDE+ autumn round from 2 October to 8 November of this year. RVO will now assess the applications on the requirements and whether the projects are technically, financially and economically viable. Some of the projects will not be granted subsidy from this round. Those who are not granted subsidy from this round can apply again in upcoming rounds in 2019.
