Winner Offshore Wind Innovation Challenge 2018

Today, the winner of the Dutch Offshore Wind Innovation Challenge 2018 was presented during an afternoon event at the DOB Academy in Delft. The winner of the challenge is Ridderflex & Plastics who signed up for the challenge presented by offshore shipping company SeaZip Offshore Service to find the perfect fender. They came up with a new type of fender made of polyether urethane.

Erwin Coolen opened the finale of the Innovation Challenge and as Key Note speaker Hans Timmers from NWEA was invited to stress the importance of innovation. Following a masterclass and bootcamp over the past months, 3 finalists, Ridderflex, MEL Systems & Filtertechnick, and Prodrone & Skeye were selected. Today they had to give a final 5-minute pitch for the business partners and the audience. The winner of the challenges was announced shortly after. Based on their developments and research of their product; Ridderflex, producer and manufacturer of rubber and plastics, provided the best solution; the perfect fender.

The next few weeks Ridderflex and SeaZip will work together on producing and testing the new fender.
Next year a new challenge will be announced.
