Arcadis and Pondera Consult have been assigned by TenneT to organise the Environmental Impact Assessment and permit applications for two underground high-voltage connections, connecting the converter station at the offshore wind farm IJmuiden Ver to an onshore converter station.
The connection capacity for each of the two (DC) connections is 2 GW. This will be the largest connection capacity as of yet in the Netherlands. IJmuiden Ver is one of the identified wind farm site in the Government’s Offshore Wind Energy Roadmap for new offshore wind farm between 2024 and 2030.
Hans Rijntalder, Director of Pondera: “This wind farm will make a significant contribution towards a more sustainable energy supply in the Netherlands. The challenge is to find the right balance between future-proof technical solutions, environmental impacts, costs and a proper spatial planning in consultation with the environment.” The parties have not released any financial information.
