Today, May 10, the topside for the Borssele Alpha offshore substation left the yard of HSM Offshore in Schiedam. It is now on its way to the Borssele 1 & 2 wind farm site where it will be placed on the jacket foundation that was already installed last summer.
The load out of the topside onto a barge took place last week. Since then it had been waiting for the right weather to be towed to the Borssele 1 & 2 wind farm site. The 700 MW Borssele Alpha platform is planned to be commissioned in August. The topside measures 58 x 32 x 26 m and has a weight of 3,700 t. It will convert the 66 kV voltage from the turbines to 220 kV.
Also waiting for a sail out is the jacket for the Borssele Beta offshore substation. HSM Offshore is now working on the topside for Borssele Beta which is expected to be installed in spring 2020.
Borssele 1 & 2 is a project by Ørsted. It will comprise 94 Siemens Gamesa 8MW turbines with a combined capacity of 752MW. The commissioning of the wind farm is scheduled for the end of 2020. Photo: Load-out Topside Borssele Alpha. Credits: Robert Nagelkerke
