Royal Boskalis and Taiwanese Hwa Chi Construction Co have been awarded a preferred bidder agreement by Danish fund management company Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) for its Chang Fang and Xidao offshore wind farm projects in Taiwan.
The contract is for the transport and installation of offshore foundations. The two companies have set up a joint venture for this purpose, whereby Wha Chi Construction holds 51% and Royal Boskalis 49%.
CIP was allocated 600 MW for the Changfang and Xidao projects that are located some 13 to 15 km off the coast of Changhua County, in April 2018. Construction is to be completed by the end of 2023. In total, the wind farms will feature 62 wind turbines on jacket foundations. MHI Vestas Offshore Wind will provide their 9 MW platform.The foundations will be manufactured by Century Wind Power, in partnership with Danish Bladt Industries and will be installed by Taipei-based CSBC-GeoSea, a joint venture between Taiwanese shipbuilder CSBC Corp. Taiwan and Belgian GeoSea.
