MMT’s Survey vessel ‘Franklin’ at Eemshaven
Swedish survey company MMT is performing a geophysical soil investigation at the Ten noorden van de Waddeneilanden wind farm zone in the North Sea over the coming weeks. The collected data will help interested developers prepare their bids for the site.
The investigation was issued by Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO.nl). MMT will use her survey vessel Franklin. over a period of 4 to 6 weeks, the vessel will collect high resolution bathymetry and seabed imagery, in addition to determining the exact, current position of existing (in service & out of service) cables and pipelines. A geological ground model of the site will be established by using both a parametric echosounder and a 2D/3D UHRS system.
The survey vessel departs from the heavy load quay at the Beatrixhaven in Eemshaven. DHSS is the agent.
Ten Noorden van de Waddeneilanden Wind Farm Zone
The Ten noorden van de Waddeneilanden Wind Farm Zone is located around 80 km off the coast of Groning, west of the operational wind farm Gemini. A wind farm with an installed capacity of 700 MW will be built here. The future wind turbines will be connected to TenneT’s future offshore platform from where the 66 kV current is transformed to 220 kV. The electricity will be transported via two 220 kV-cable systems at sea and on land to the land station. The wind farm zone is part of the government’s ‘Offshore Wind Energy Roadmap 2030’.
