DHSS to provide helicopter services for Borssele III & IV

Transport and logistics agency DHSS has been selected by Van Oord to perform helicopter services during the construction phase of the 731.5 MW Borssele III & IV offshore wind farm, located some 22 km off the coast of the Province of Zeeland.

The wind farm is a project by the Blauwwind consortium, consisting of Partners Group (45%), Shell (20%), DGE (15%), Eneco (10%) and Van Oord (10%). In addition to being a partner, Van Oord is also the Balance of Plant contractor for the wind farm, responsible for the engineering, supply and construction of the foundations and connecting cables.

Financial close for the project was reached in June 2018. In total, 77 V164 9.5 MW turbines by MHI Vestas will be installed. Van Oord is currently installing monopiles, using their installation vessel Aeolus. The first monopile was installed in October.

Helicopter flights, chartered from DHSS, will take off from Den Helder Airport, which is completely utilized as an A1 Offshore Energy heliport and approved by the consortium.

DHSS is currently also working with Van Oord on another offshore wind project, the German Deutsch Bucht, where DHSS is the helicopter logistics provider.
