Sif Holding n.v. has entered into exclusive negotiations for the delivery of 33 monopiles and 33 Transition pieces (25 KTon steel) for an offshore wind project in Japan. The Dutch steel constructor reports that it will not disclose any details on the wind farm project and the schedule prior to the issue of a Notice To Proceed by the client. However, the current state of negotiations has led to a pre-order of the steel for the project. Sif’s orderbook for 2020 now has approximately 175 Kton of which 25 Kton under exclusive negotiations and 150 Kton in firm projects.
Saint- Nazaire Offshore Wind Farm
Earlier this month, Sif announced an order confirmation for another offshore wind farm, this time in France. The company will supply 80 monopiles and the primary steel for 80 transition pieces (77 KTon steel) for the 480 MW Saint- Nazaire offshore wind farm. Sif received the order from Eiffage Métal SAS who, together with DEME, is acting as EPCI contractor for the project. Sif’s will deliver the primary steel for the transition pieces to Smulders Hoboken and store and deliver the monopiles at their deep sea quay side in 2020-2021.
The Saint- Nazaire wind farm is a project by Eolien Maritime France (EMF), a joint venture of EDF Renewables and Canadian energy infrastructure company Enbridge. The offshore wind farm, the first for France, will rise some 12-20 km off the coast of the Guerande peninsula in western France, in water depths of 12 to 25 m. The commissioning is expected by end of 2022.
