The 175.5 MW De Drentse Monden en Oostermoer Wind Farm has reached financial close, the initiators of the project reported yesterday. The initiators, Duurzame Energieproductie Exloërmond BV, Windpark Oostermoer Exploitatie BV and Raedthuys DDM BV, will together provide the equity capital. Financial institutes NWB Bank, Rabobank, BNG Bank and LBBW will finance an additional amount of around 200 million Euro.
The announcement followed shortly after the news from Minister Wiebes of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy that the EMC radiation level measured at the first wind turbine in De Drentse Monden en Oostermoer Wind Farm is within the agreed limitations. He made this clear in a letter to the Parliament. The wind farm will be constructed in the proximity of the LOFAR telescope which studies space. The EMC radiation produced by the wind turbines could disrupt some of the research performed by the telescope. The initiators of the wind farm and ASTRON, the owner of the telescope, have therefore have agreed to reduce the amount of radiation with 35 dB compared to the norm.
Since the installation of the first wind turbine in July of last year, several measurements have been performed. With the positive outcome and the financial close, a start can be made with the construction of the remaining 44 wind turbines. The turbines are provided by Nordex and will be installed in six linear positions. They are of the type N131/3900, with each a rated power of 3.9 MW, an axis height of 145 m and a rotordiameter of 131 m. It is expected that the construction of the remaining 44 wind turbines in the municipalities of Borger-Odoorn and Aa en Hunze in the province of Drenthe, will be completed in 2021. Once fully operational the wind farm will be able to provide around 225,000 households with green energy.
