Eemshaven has been selected as base port for the installation of the foundations for the British Hornsea Two offshore wind farm. DEME Offshore, responsible for the logistics and installation of the foundations, and Buss Terminal Eemshaven signed a contract for this.
The contract between the two parties comprise the installation of 165 foundations (monopiles and transition pieces). Approximately 140,000 m² of the 250,000 m² heavy lift terminal will be used for this project. The first activities will start in May this year.
Previously we already reported that Jumbo Shipping will be transporting 165 monopiles and 135 transition pieces from Rostock and Aalborg respectively to the Eemshaven. The remaining 30 are manufactured in the UK.
It is the 17th offshore wind farm that is served from Eemshaven. With a capacity of around 1.4 GW it is also the largest offshore wind project handled by Eemshaven. Image: © Groningen Seaports
