The last 6 transition pieces and anode boxes for the 752 MW Borssele 1 + 2 offshore wind farm left Bladt Industries manufacturing facility in Aalborg, Denmark last week.
Bladt Industries was awarded the contract for the production of 35 transition pieces (TP) by wind farm owner Ørsted in October 2018. In December that same year, the number of TPs to be produced by Bladt Industries was increased to a total of 59. Each TP weighs around 390 tonnes and has a diameter up to 6 meter and a length of 26 meter. The Danish steel producer started manufacturing activities in December 2018. At the end of November 2019, the first 6 TPs left the manufacturing site in Aalborg.
The remaining 35 TPs are manufactured by EEW OSB. The monopiles are constructed by Sif and EEW SPC.
Borssele 1 + 2 is currently being built at some 22 km off the coast of the province of Zeeland. At the start of January the first foundations were installed. Ørsted announced today that currently 30 foundations are installed and 14 km of cables laid. In april, a start will be made on the installation of the 94 Siemens Gamesa 8 MW wind turbines.
