Huisman has signed a contract with PaxOcean Engineering for the delivery of a 1,600 mt Leg Encircling Crane which will be installed on Japanese Penta-Ocean Construction Co., Ltd. new self-elevated platform. Huisman will build the crane in its production facility in XIamen, P.R. of China.

PaxOcean Engineering received the order from Penta-Ocean in January of this year. The self-elevated platform (SEP) is of a GustoMSC design, equipped with four tubular legs and four azimuth thrusters. It is fitted with a large clear deck area of approximately 3,800 sqm, with accommodation designed for 80 persons.

Huisman will deliver a 1,600 mt Leg Encircling Crane. This will enable the SEP to install 12 MW wind turbines and various foundations including monopiles. Huisman stated the 1,600 mt Leg Encircling Crane will be certified by Japanese certification society ClassNK and that the key systems will consist of Japan-made components to increase ease of maintenance.

The SEP will be built at PaxOcean’s Batam yard in Indonesia and is scheduled for completion in Q3 2022.

For Huisman it is the third crane delivery for wind turbine installation in Japan. It already delivered a 800 mt crane for Penta-Ocean’s CP8001 in 2018. Also in 2018, the company signed a contract with Japan Marine United Shipyard for the delivery of a 1,000mt SWL Pedestal Mounted Crane.
