Dutch consultancy BLIX has been commissioned by Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) to supervise the soil investigation for the 4 GW IJmuiden Ver Wind Farm Zone. The contract runs until the end of Q1 2022.
Together with its partners Reynolds International, RPS Group and Wind Support, BLIX will obtain offshore soil data. RVO and BLIX will develop a state of the art dataset relevant for developers’ business cases and will publicise this over a period of two years.
It is the fifth consecutive wind farm zone where BLIX is involved, following Borssele, Hollandse Kust (zuid), Hollandse Kust (noord), and Hollandse Kust (west) and IJmuiden Ver.
IJmuiden Ver
IJmuiden Ver Wind Farm Zone is located 62 km off the west coast of the Netherlands. Within the zone there will be 4 sites designated for the development of in total 4 GW of offshore wind capacity. The four sites; IJmuiden Ver Wind Farm Site I, II, III, and IV, will be tendered in 2 rounds. The application period for the first tender, for sites I and II, is scheduled to open in 2023. The application period to develop sites III and IV is scheduled to open in 2025.The wind farms are expected to be commissioned between 2024 and 2030. TenneT, as the responsible institute for the offshore connection, will deploy for the first time two 2 GW direct current connections.
IJmuiden Ver is one of 3 sites identified by the Dutch Offshore Wind Energy Roadmap 2030.
