Today, Seaway 7 announced it has successfully completed the first mockup trials for the 1,500 MW Hollandse Kust Zuid (HKZ) offshore wind farm with Sif and Vattenfall.
The mockup trials for Vattenfall’s Hollandse Kust Zuid project allowed the three parties to gain valuable insights in the design of the HKZ foundations and inter-array cables, in addition to obtaining design input for the further development of the installation tools and cable installation auxiliaries.
Vattenfall selected Seaway 7 as a partner for HKZ 1&2 in April 2019 and HKZ 3&4 in April 2020. The company will be responsible for the transport and installation of the 140 monopile foundations and 315 km of 66 kV inner array grid cables in water depths between 18 and 27 metres. Sif is responsible for the manufacturing and storage of the monopile foundations at its Maasvlakte 2 facility.
A second series of mockup trials is scheduled for next year. The official offshore construction activities are scheduled to be executed in 2021 and 2022.
