Heerema’s crane vessel Sleipnir started this weekend with the installation of the jacket foundation for TenneT’s 700 MW Hollandse Kust Zuid Alpha offshore station.

The jacket arrived in the Netherlands on 17 August and waited off Scheveningen beach for pick up by the Sleipnir. The 6-legged jacket foundation was built at the Eversendai Offshore yard in RAK Maritime City, Ras al Khaimah. The foundation weighs approximately 3,200 tons and is 40 meters long, 47 meters wide and 48 meters high.

Heerema Marine Contractors’ semi-submersible crane vessel arrived this Saturday. The installation of the jacket is taking place at approximately 22 km off the coast at Katwijk.

DHSS transported the personnel to the Sleipnir. The Dutch logistics company was selected to provide the helicopter services.

Sleipnir will also install the topside for the offshore station. The topside is currently being built by Drydocks World in UAE and is expected to be installed by the end of this year. The 700 MW station is the first to be installed in the 1,500 MW Hollandse Kust (zuid) Offshore Wind Farm. A second offshore station is planned to be installed a year later.
