MHI Vestas announced this week that around 75% of all wind turbines are in place at the 731.5 MW Borssele III & IV offshore wind farm which is rising some 55 km off the coast of the province of Zeeland.
MHI Vestas is supplying 77 of its V164-9.5 MW platform. Van Oord is responsible for the installation of the turbines, using its wind turbine installation vessel Aeolus. The turbines are picked up from the port of Vlissingen.
The first turbine was installed in May this year. TSO TenneT completed the Borssele Beta offshore connection in July this year. In August already the first power was connected by TenneT to the grid at Borssele. TenneT is currently working on the upgrading of the 150kV grid in Zeeland and the 380kV connection between the high-voltage substations Borssele and Rilland.
Borssele III & IV is a project by Blauwwind, a consortium of Van Oord, Shell DGE and Eneco.
