First load-out of concrete platforms for Fryslân WF

Aarsleff announced this weekend that the first load-out of the concrete working platforms (CWP) for Fryslân Wind Farm took place. The platforms will be installed on the monopiles in the coming weeks.

Aarsleff BIZ Sp. z o.o. was awarded the contract for the production and delivery of the CWPs at the end of 2019. Each platform weighs 76 tonnes. They are fabricated in Aarsleff’ certified precast concrete element factory in Świnoujście, Poland. Spliethoff is responsible for the transportation of the CWPs from Poland to Kraanverhuur Transport Friesland in Harlingen. The delivery takes place in four shipments. Spliethoff uses its H-type vessels. The first badge was transported on the cargo vessel ‘Humbergracht’.

Monopile installation ongoing
Last Thursday, 17 September, the press was invited on a boat trip to the wind farm construction site in the Frysian part of the IJsselmeer, south of the Afsluitdijk. That day, preparations were in place for the installation of the 11th monopile. The first monopile was installed on 7 September, 2020. The boat trip provided a good view of the complexity of the installation process in the IJsselmeer where, due to the low water depths and narrow locks, it is not possible to use conventional installation vessels.

Multiple vessels are required to perform and support the installation work. The monopiles are installed by the Sarens Socker Pitch (SSP), The monopiles are transported to the SSP by Spliethoff using the 3 cargo vessels Lady Amalia Delfzijl, Lady Anne Beau and the Lady. Alida Bruinisse. The Triton is used to help with the up-ending of the monopiles so the large Sarens crane onboard the SSP can install the monopile.
