Van Oord, awarded Breman Machinery and KENC Engineering with the assignment to design and build a casing lifting adapter (CLA). The lifting tool supports the installation of 190 pin piles at the French Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm.
The CLA lifting tool can handle 275 tonnes and is designed to connect
with the temporary casing used during drilling operations. It is equipped with redundant safety pin connections and can be operated remotely. The lifting tool includes a sub-sea IP camera to provide real-time images during fitting operations.
The CLA will be delivered to Van Oord in early February 2021.
Saint-Brieuc Offshore Wind Farm
Saint-Brieuc Offshore Wind Farm is a project by Ailes Marines, a consortium of Spanish Iberdrola Group and French companies RES and Caisse Des Dépôts. The project, located some 16 km off the French coast in Brittany will feature 62 Siemens Gamesa SG 8.0-167 DD turbines When it becomes operational in 2023 it will have a total installed capacity of 496 MW.
Van Oord was selected to transport and install the 62 jacket foundations and offshore substation. The company will use its installation vessel Aeolus for the activities.
