Dutch steel manufacturer Sif Group (Sif) wil supply 70 monopiles for the 759 MW Hollandse Kust Noord offshore wind farm. The company will start the manufacturing of the TP-less monopiles in 2022.
Sif was awarded the contract by Van Oord, who is responsible for the construction of the wind farm, located some 18.5 km off the Dutch west coast, adjacent to the existing wind farms Prinses Amalia and Offshore Windpark Egmond aan Zee.
Sif’s scope comprises manufacturing of the 70 TP-less design monopiles (65 kton steel) and storage at the Maasvlakte 2 facility in Rotterdam in 2022- 2023. Upon receipt of the notice to proceed (NTP), Sif will start the manufacturing of the monopiles in 2022 in its two plants in the Netherlands. The monopiles will support the Siemens Gamesa 11 MW wind turbines.
The order was already included in Sif’s orderbook as a project under exclusive negotiation.
Hollandse Kust Noord
The Hollandse Kust Noord project is developed and will be operated by CrossWind, a joint venture between Shell and Eneco. CrossWind won the subsidy-free tender for the wind farm zone in July this year.
The wind farm is scheduled for grid connection in 2023 and will have an installed capacity of 759 MW, generating at least 3.3 TWh per year, similar to almost 5% of current total electricity consumption in The Netherlands.
