The construction of the first string of wind turbines has been completed in De Drentse Monden en Oostermoer Wind Farm, which is currently being built in the province of Drenthe, on the grounds of the municipality of Aa en Hunze and Borger Odoorn.

Spread over an area of 50 km2, a total of 45 wind turbines are being installed in six line arrangements. The construction of the first string of turbines (DEE-1 line), between Valthermond and 2e Exloërmond, was recently completed.

The technical installations of these 9 Nordex turbines, type N131/3900 with 3.9 MW capacity, still have to be connected and tested before the wind turbines can be put into operation. They are expected to supply the first power to the electricity grid in the course of February, the initiators report.

Next will be the second line, the OM-2 (Oostermoer) line, which is currently the furthest advanced. A few wind turbines remain to be built here.

The 175.5 MW De Drentse Monden en Oostermoer wind farm is an initiative of three parties: Duurzame Energieproductie Exloërmond B.V., Pure Energie (Raedthuys Windenergie) and Windpark Oostermoer Exploitatie B.V.. In November, all foundations were in place.
