Site preparations have recently started for the Kroningswind Wind Farm at Goeree-Overflakkee in the province of Zuid-Holland. The approximately 80 MW wind farm is expected to be operational at the end of 2022.

Kroningswind wind farm is located in an agricultural area between Stellendam and Middelharnis. The wind farm will feature 19 Vestas V117-4.2 MW wind turbines with 117 m rotor diameter, 91.5 m hub height and 150 m tip height. H4A is the contractor for the civil engineering works.

Soil survey
Soil investigation is being carried out for the park cabling between the wind turbines and towards the transformer station and the export cable to the national grid. The measurements, by means of manual and mechanical probing and drilling, will determine the different properties of the subsoil along the route. With this information, it is then determined which type of cable is best suitable.

The wind turbines will be installed in places where there are currently no access roads. Work is now being done on the construction of dams over which the access roads to the wind turbines are being realized.

The wind farm is an initiative from 2011 by 10 farmers. In 2019, the Belgian infrastructure investment company TINC took a majority stake in the wind farm. In November 2020, the project reached financial close. The wind farm is expected to be operational by the end of 2022. The electricity will be purchased by energy company Eneco for the first sixteen years.
