Kallista Energy acquires 40% share in Krammer Wind Farm from Enercon

French renewable energy company Kallista Energy takes a 40% stake in the 102 MW Krammer Wind Farm. The company acquires the shares from previous owner Enercon.

Krammer Wind Farm was built along the ‘Philipsdam’ dikes bordering lake Krammer, in the province of Zeeland. The wind farm features 34 Enercon E-115 wind turbines with 3 MW capacity and was commissioned in March 2019 and officially opened in May 2019. Around 365 GWh of renewable electricity are produced each year by Windpark Krammer.

60% of the wind farm is owned by two cooperatives, Deltawind and Zeeuwind, which regroup around 5,000 members, making it the largest citizen initiative at that time in the Netherlands. Originally Deltawind and Zeeuwind held a 51% stake in the project while turbine supplier Enercon held 49%. In October 2020, the 2 cooperatives acquired 9 % shares from Enercon. Kallista Energy, backed by funds advised by Ardian on behalf of APG and AXA, its institutional shareholders, now acquires the remaining shares that were held by Enercon (EIPP GmbH).

Oostflakkee Wind Farm

For Kallista it is the second wind farm project in the Netherlands, following the acquisition of the 32 MW Oostflakkee Wind Farm in Goeree-Overflakkee, in the province of Zuid-Holland, in 2019. With the acquisition of the shares in Krammer, Kallista Energy will be associated with 134 MW of onshore wind energy in the Netherlands, in addition to its 213 MW in operation in France.

Frédéric Roche, President of Kallista Energy, said:“Windpark Krammer illustrates perfectly how enterprising spirit combined with expert wind technology can enable thousands of inhabitants to act for energy transition in their region. We are very proud to have been chosen by Enercon to succeed them in one of the most emblematic wind farms in the Netherlands and very enthusiastic to be involved in this project alongside the Deltawind and Zeeuwind cooperatives. The long-term commitment of Kallista Energy and of its institutional shareholders is perfectly aligned with the vision of the other partners in this project”.

Bram van Noort, Country manager Dutch Branch at ENERCON said:“We truly enjoyed working close with the entire Krammer team. It was a great experience to realize such an ambitious windfarm together with Deltawind & Zeeuwind. In Kallista we find a trustful and pragmatic partner with whom we are glad to continue to collaborate both as service provider for WindPark Krammer and as supplier and project partner for other onshore projects in the Netherlands and in other markets of our new sales region. Kallista’s engagement shows that international investors trust onshore wind energy and ENERCON technology in particular. We are looking forward to realize additional landmark projects and prototype sites and continue to drive forward the energy transition in Europe together”.
