Acta Marine completes Bard Offshore 1 maintenance campaign

Acta Marine completed a 3 year maintenance campaign on the German Bard Offshore 1 offshore wind farm. The company deployed its walk to work support vessel Acta Auriga for the campaign.

Bard Offshore 1 was commissioned in 2013 and is the first commercial offshore wind farm in German waters. The 400 MW project is located approximately 90 km north of the isle of Borkum in the German North Sea and features 80 BARD 5 MW wind turbines.

Acta Marine was contracted by Bard Offshore 1 owner Ocean Breeze for the maintenance activities. It was the first campaign for Acta Marine’s new addition to their fleet: the walk to work support vessel Acta Auriga. The DP2 vessel measures 93.4 x 18 metres and features a SMST 3D-compensated gangway and 3D-crane as well as the Ulstein X-BOW and X-STERN hull design.

The Acta Auriga started the O&M works on Bard in April 2018 just weeks after vessel delivery from the Norwegian shipyard Ulstein. The vessel replaced two maintenance vessels that were initially performing the O&M scope on the wind farm. During the 3 year campaign the vessel performed, among others, 9300 gangway connections, transfers of 44,600 persons and lifting of 43,600 cargo pieces. All with zero LTI, the company states.
