Delmar Systems acquires Vryhof

Netherlands based mooring and anchoring solutions provider Vryhof, consisting of Deep Sea Mooring and Vryhof Anchors, is being acquired by US company Delmar Systems from Moreld. The combined company will continue as Delmar Systems and as Vryhof.

Established in 1968, Delmar Systems is a worldwide operating specialist in offshore mooring, engineering, and subsea services with its head office in Houston, Texas. “We are excited to welcome Vryhof to the Delmar family. Vryhof’s Team has built a world-class organization and we look forward to continuing that tradition,” says Nick Patterson, Delmar’s CEO. “With over a century of combined company experience, Delmar and Vryhof will offer unrivalled personnel, equipment, engineering, mooring solutions and comprehensive project management to the global offshore energy industry.”

Vryhof designs and provides drag embedment anchors, mooring installation solutions such as the STEVTENSIONER®, and related mooring equipment for larger floating structures in the offshore energy industries, including MODU’s, FSRUs, FPSOs, FSOs and large-scale wind applications, as well as for offshore civil applications. The company has over 10,800 anchors in operation. Deep Sea Mooring provides mooring rental equipment and services in the North Sea, with significant operations in Australia and other international markets.

Solutions for floating wind

Vryhof has been supporting floating wind developers for over a decade. It supplied mooring systems to Statoil’s Hywind Demo 2.3MW spar prototype in 2009, and Principle Power’s 2MW semi-submersible prototype a year later. Other projects included the Fukushima Forward demonstration project in Japan, the first floating turbine in the US (VolturnUS), Japan’s Skwid wind/wave project, and more recently the WindFloat Atlantic and Kincardine projects.

“We are pleased to have reached this agreement with Delmar. This transaction is in line with our strategy to divest capital-intensive businesses to allow us to focus our energy on transition and growth plans,” commented Jan Erik Rugland, Moreld’s CEO, the former owner of Vryhof.

“Delmar is a great home for our companies. The combination of the individual strengths and complementary offerings of the companies will be a key benefit to our mutual and new customers,” explained Wolfgang Wandl, Vryhof’s CEO. “Our dedicated professionals look forward to continuing the tradition of providing the very best service and quality that has led to our global success. Together we will pursue the same objectives and ambitions to foster a collective sense of pride in a successful Delmar Systems and Vryhof.”
