Vos Prodect supplies cable hang-off system for Hollandse Kust Zuid

Vos Prodect Innovations (VPI) is to provide the cable hang-off systems to be used for the Hollandse Kust Zuid (HKZ) offshore wind farm. The company received the order from Dutch cable manufacturer TKF who are supplying the inter-array cables for phases 1 and 2 of the project. Delivery of the systems will start in 2021.

The contract with TKF (Twentsche Kabelfabriek) includes engineering and supply of VPI’s cable hang-off system. VPI will deliver the low version (250 mm height). This version has been designed to facilitate easy assembly in confined spaces at the cable deck of the offshore platform. The tailor-made design has previously been used at Fryslân offshore wind farm and has extensively been tested in combination with cables of TKF, the company said.

In may 2020, TKF received the order for the manufacturing and delivery of 150 km of 66 kV aluminum core cables and accessories for HKZ phases 1 and 2. The installation and cable laying is scheduled for execution in 2022 and 2023. Prysmian is responsible for the inter-array cables for HKZ 3 and 4 phases. The 1.5 GW HKZ offshore wind farm (a project by Vattenfall and BASF) is expected to be fully operational in 2023.

It is not the first time VPI and TKF work together. VPI was also awarded a similar contract by TKF for the German Kaskasi offshore wind farm in March this year.
