EWT installs first DW61-1000kW turbines in Greece

EWT (Emergya Wind Technologies) has successfully completed the installation of three DW61-1000kW wind turbines in Boeotia, Greece for its customer Aigaioelektriki Paleovounas Elikonos SA. This is the first time EWT has installed a DW61 platform in Greece.

With a tower height of 69 meters and a rotor diameter of 61 meters, the DW61 wind turbines from the Dutch wind turbine manufacturer offer a good solution in the 1000kW category for project sites with low to moderate wind speeds.

In addition to supplying the wind turbines, EWT also has a 20-year full-scope maintenance and service contract for the wind turbines in place.

EWT in Greece

EWT, founded in 2004, supplies wind turbines with capacities up to 1 MW and has installed wind turbines in more than 10 countries worldwide.

EWT’s activities in Greece began in 2017 with its participation in a public tender by PPC Renewables. EWT won this tender and was awarded the project for the supply, installation and maintenance of 22 turbines on 9 Greek islands and the Greek mainland.

The installation of the three DW61-1000kW turbines is the 15th completed project for EWT in Greece in the past 3 years. Recently, in July this year, EWT also installed two wind turbines, type DW51, for Aigaoioelektreki on the remote island of Chios. EWT has an office in Athens from which it manages its Greek maintenance, sales and business development activities.

Greece set a record in wind power production on September 6. Daily production rose to 61.4 GWh, covering 48% of total electricity demand. Image: EWT
