Zoning plan for Elzenburg – De Geer wind farm adopted again

On Thursday evening 16 December, the Municipal Council of Oss again unanimously adopted the zoning plan for Wind Farm Elzenburg – de Geer. The Municipal Executive is expected to grant the environmental permits on 17 December 2021.

Windpark Elzenburg – De Geer is an initiative of energy company Pure Energie and De Wachtmeesters. The plan is for four wind turbines with a maximum tip height of 210 metres on the Elzenburg – De Geer industrial estate in Oss, in the province of Noord-Brabant.

On 27 June 2019, the Municipal Council of Oss adopted the zoning plan “Windmolenpark Elzenburg – De Geer”. On 1 August 2019, the Municipal Executive of Oss granted two environmental permits.

Council of State ruling

However, in July 2021 the Administrative Jurisdiction Division of the Council of State, following an appeal, annulled the zoning plan and the environmental permits for the wind farm on a number of legal technical grounds. The municipality of Oss and the province of Noord-Brabant subsequently worked together to rectify these technical legal shortcomings. The content of the zoning plan has not been changed.

The plan is to realise the wind farm in 2023. After commissioning, the wind turbines are expected to generate approximately 50 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually. Source: Windpark Elzenburg-De Geer
