On the last day of 2021, Danish wind turbine manufacturer confirmed the turbine supply orders for the two Dutch onshore wind projects Windplan Groen and Maasvlakte 2. The two orders represent a total installed capacity of 373 MW.
For the Maasvlakte 2 Wind Farm project in the Netherlands, which will be built on both the ‘hard’ and ‘soft’ sea defences around the industrial harbour of Maasvlakte 2, Vestas will supply and install 13 V162-6.0 MW turbines and nine V117-4.2 MW turbines in 4.3 MW operating mode. Vestas signed the contract with Dutch energy company Eneco who is building the wind farm on the outer edge of Maasvlakte 2 in the Port of Rotterdam, by order of Rijkswaterstaat, the Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management in the Netherlands.
For the soft part of sea defence, Vestas will install the EnVentus turbines with monopile foundations on the sport beach, and the rest of the turbines will be installed on the dike infrastructure. Combined, the 22 wind turbines will generate 416 GWh of green electricity annually, which is enough to supply the equivalent of approximately 152,000 homes with power.
In addition, Vestas will provide service for the project through a long-term Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement. Vestas is planning to deliver the first turbines in the second quarter of 2022, and they will be commissioned by the end of 2022.
Vestas has also received a 257 MW order from Windkoepel Groen for a total of seven projects in the Netherlands. The order includes supply and installation of 37 V162-6.2 MW EnVentus wind turbines, with some delivered in 6.0 MW operating mode, and eight V126-3.45 MW wind turbines delivered in 3.8 MW operating mode.
The seven projects are part of Windplan Groen, a collective initiative to repower existing wind farms in the Eastern part of the Province of Flevoland. The individual owners are joined in Windkoepel Groen. Windplan Groen comprises 11 wind farms in total. Among the seven wind farms that Vestas is supplying the turbines for are Eneco’s Hoge Vaart Zuid (10 wind turbines), Oldebroekertocht (5 wind turbines) and Hondtocht Zuid (5 wind turbines) wind farms and the Flevo Ventum wind farm of Flevo Ventum BV. The V162-variant has been chosen for these projects.
Vestas will provide service for the project through long-term Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreements. Vestas is planning to deliver the first wind turbines in the third quarter of 2022. The final wind turbines will be commissioned in late 2023. Source: Vestas
