Eager.one, an Utrecht-based heavy mechanical engineering specialist, has been awarded a contract to design and supply a remote-controlled Jacket Lifting Tool for South Korean offshore wind specialist Samkang M&T.
The Jacket Lifting Tool will be used in upcoming Asian offshore wind projects. It will be capable of loading up to 2500t jackets onto transport vessels from the yard. According to the company, this will be Eager.one’s first project for Samkang.
Eager.one will design and build a jacket lifting tool for the second time. The company previously signed a contract with Boskalis to design and manufacture a specialized Jacket Lifting Tool. It will be used during the loading, unloading, and installation of 62 jackets at a wind farm off the coast of Taiwan.
The JLT has a total working load limit (WLL) of 2,233 tons and measures approximately 8 by 6 by 5 meters. The tool is made up of six clamps that work together to lift the jacket.
