Smulders and Equans move Hollandse Kust (noord) substation out of construction hall

TenneT offshore substation for the Hollandse Kust (nord) offshore wind farm, which Smulders is building in a joint venture with EQUANS, has been moved out of the construction hall in Belgium.

The platform will be sailed away this summer. In 2023, the wind farm should be operational.

The offshore platforms Hollandse Kust (noord), west Alpha and west Beta, will be located in the North Sea off the coast of the Dutch province of Noord-Holland. By 2030, offshore wind farms will provide 40% of the Netherlands’ electricity needs. Hollandse Kust (nord) will be operational in 2023, with a capacity of 759 MW and an annual output of at least 3.3 TWh.

The grid connections for these wind farms will be handled by TenneT. TenneT will build and operate these three 700 MW platforms, which will be the fifth, sixth, and seventh large-scale grid connections for offshore wind energy in the Netherlands.
