Van Oord hires Peritus International Sofia wind farm inter-array cable study

Van Oord, an EPCI contractor for the Sofia offshore wind farm’s inter-array cables and monopile foundations, has hired Peritus International to conduct a study on inter-array cable stability for RWE’s project in the UK.

This project’s goal is to determine the inter-array cables’ bottom stability in shallow water, which can be particularly difficult to account for. In the words of Peritus, the detailed analysis work is aimed at extending how long cables can be left on the seabed before trenching.

Hellenic Cables was chosen earlier this year by Dutch Van Oord to supply 66 kV inter-array cables and accessories for the 1.4 GW project. Prysmian will supply the export cable. Sofia’s 100 SG 14-222 DD wind turbines are expected to be completed by 2026.
