Offshore Energy Vessel of the Year Award nomination for Damen Fast Crew Supplier

The Damen Fast Crew Supplier (FCS) 7011, which features an integrated Ampelmann S-type motion compensated gangway, has been nominated for the Offshore Energy Vessel of the Year Award 2022.

The FCS 7011, which will operate along North Sea offshore platforms, is set to revolutionize crew transport by providing exceptional comfort and speed.

Even in rough seas, the FCS 7011 can reach speeds of up to 40 knots. The Axe Bow will significantly reduce slamming and pitching. The vessel can accommodate 120 passengers. The integrated motion compensated gangway from Ampelmann makes boarding and disembarking at sea a breeze. The gangway’s electrically powered hexapod platform ensures stability in sea states up to 3 meter significant wave height, allowing crew and personnel to safely and efficiently walk to work. Aqua Helix is managed by OceanXpress, a joint venture between Damen Shipyards Group and Ampelmann, for crewing transport solutions from the Dutch coast to offshore installations in the North Sea.

If a ship must sail at high speeds, weight reduction is critical. The FCS 7011’s slender hull is made of aluminum. The total weight of the ship is reduced even more by fully integrating the gangway foundation into the vessel structure, allowing for faster speeds.

The award ceremony will take place on June 15th, following the first day of the two-day Annual Offshore Support Journal Conference and Exhibition, at a gala dinner.
