Brookfield, SSE Renewables, and the Vereniging voor Energie, Milieu en Water (VEMW) have teamed up for the Hollandse Kust West wind farm tender.
In a Wind Consortium, VEMW represents 13 large and small Dutch industrial electricity consumers from various sectors. Companies want to make their industrial activities more sustainable so that they can contribute to a society that is CO2 neutral.
The VEMW Wind Consortium allows all participating companies to contribute to the development of offshore wind in the Netherlands while also allowing them to purchase affordable sustainable electricity. For a period of 15 years, the consortium will purchase the majority of the electricity generated.
Air Products, Avebe, Royal Cosun, Holland Malt, Huntsman, HyCC, Indorama Ventures, LyondellBasell, Nobian, Nyrstar, Organon, Teijin Aramid, and Utility Support Group are among the companies involved.
On April 14, 2022, the Dutch government issued tenders for the Hollandse Kust (west) Wind Farm Zone (HKWWFZ). The HKWWFZ is situated 53 kilometers off the coast of the Netherlands. Two wind farm sites have been designated within the zone: HKW Wind Farm Site VI and VII. The Wind Farm Sites cover a total area of approximately 176 km2. The HKWWFZ’s total capacity will be 1,400 MW.
