Huisman has been awarded a contract by Seaway 7 to deliver a 3,000mt Spreader Bar.
The Spreader Bar will facilitate the installation of offshore wind turbines and can handle monopiles of the largest diameter and length currently available.
The Spreader Bar will be custom-built to Seaway 7’s specifications, but it will be based on a proven Huisman design. It is designed to improve monopile and transition piece installation safety and efficiency. Hands-free sling handling of monopiles, controlled remotely by an exchangeable battery pack, ensures safe operations.
The Spreader Bar will be used for the first time by Seaway 7 during the third phase of the Dogger Bank Wind Farm, Dogger Bank C. The wind farm off the coast of Yorkshire, UK, will be the world’s largest when all three phases are completed, with a capacity of 3.6GW – enough to power 6 million homes.
