ONE-Dyas has been granted permission by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate to develop a gas platform powered entirely by electricity generated by the Riffgat offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.
N05-A and other North Sea fields have received final approval from the Dutch government to produce natural gas. About 20 kilometers north of the N05-A platform are Borkum, Rottumerplaat, and Schiermonnikoog.
The Riffgat wind farm is just a few miles away, so the N05-A platform will be powered entirely by wind energy. A safe and responsible transition to a cleaner and more efficient energy system is made possible by it.
Environmental Assessment
It was approved by the Commission for Environmental Assessment on February 18, 2022, and acknowledged the project’s utility and necessity. Additionally, the Commission praised the platform’s electrification, which will reduce emissions, according to ONE-Dyas.
ONE-Dyas expects to begin delivering natural gas to Dutch and German homes by the end of 2024. The N05-A project is located in the GEMS area, which is approximately 20 to 100 kilometers north of the Ems estuary.
