Dutch Govt releases timetable for additional offshore wind farms

The locations and timelines for the additional offshore wind farms proposed for 2030 have been announced by the Dutch government.

Tenders for these new wind farms, which will have a total capacity of 10.7 gigawatts, will begin in 2025. Total installed offshore wind capacity will reach 21 GW by 2030, with 11 GW already planned. Electricity generated by offshore wind will meet roughly 75% of the country’s electricity demand.

The additional offshore grid will require around €16 billion in investment. TenneT will install the offshore grid connections to the onshore network for the additional wind farms and will contract out the manufacturing of platforms, cables, and equipment before the final offshore grid permits are awarded to ensure that the work is completed on time.
