Construction of first Maasvlakte 2 wind turbine complete

The installation of the final wind turbine blade marked the end of the first wind turbine’s construction for Windpark Maasvlakte 2.

The constructed wind turbine is installed on the soft sea wall (on the beach). This area will house a total of 12 wind turbines. Ten wind turbines will also be installed on the hard sea wall.

The wind turbines are provided by Vestas. A total of 13 V162-6.0 MW turbines and 9 V117-4.2 MW turbines in 4.3 MW operating mode will be provided by the Danish wind turbine manufacturer. The wind turbine that was completed is a V162-6.0 with 79 meter-long blades..

Beginning in June, the monopile foundation installation on the soft sea wall was completed by contractor Ballast Nedam. The wind turbines are currently being built in full force. Eneco is building the Maasvlakte 2 Wind Farm for Rijkswaterstaat. 2023 is the projected completion date for the project. After that, the 116.7 MW wind farm will produce around 416 GWh annually.
