All Maasvlakte 2 wind farm foundations ready

The last pour of concrete for the Maasvlakte 2 Wind Farm’s foundations took place last week. A total of 22 foundations are now complete.

There are ten concrete foundations on the dike and twelve monopile foundations on the shore that make up the Maasvlakte 2 wind farm. The contract to lay the foundations was awarded to Ballast Nedam in November 2021. Ballast Nedam started with the monopile construction first. This was completed in June.

The placement of the ten concrete footings followed after. In this case, H4A was in charge of the concrete pouring. When laying concrete for foundations, it is customary to do it at ground level, but for this project, it was decided to build up. The foundations have been built on a reinforced soil construction, constructed by Bonneveld, at a height of approximately six metres above ground level. This was reported by Jan de Vries, manager of the project at Ballast Nedam.

Meanwhile, the Vestas wind turbines have been under construction for a while as well. In June, workers finished erecting the first wind turbine. Eneco, by order of Rijkswaterstaat, is responsible for the construction of the Maasvlakte 2 wind farm. Image source: Ballast Nedam
