Hollandse Kust Noord construction starts

Hollandse Kust Noord began construction on Monday with the placement of the first monopile.

Van Oord will erect 70 monopiles in the coming months to support the wind turbines in the Hollandse Kust Noord wind farm, located 18 km offshore Egmond aan Zee.

CrossWind will use offshore hydrogen production and floating solar panels to build the wind farm. This first Dutch smart wind farm will accelerate the energy transition with these advances.

The first Dutch smart wind farm will use monopile-mounted wind turbines. Construction occurs 24/7. To protect seafarers from large waves and heavy winds, work may be halted. Mid-2023 should see the monopiles installed.
