Huisman launches new Jacking System for wind market

The first Huisman Jacking Gearbox, which will be a part of the Jacking System, has passed a Factory Acceptance Test (FAT).

The Jacking System, which comes in a variety of versions, is especially made for wind turbine installation jack-up vessels, taking both the needs of the present and the needs of the future into consideration. The system has a specialized, patented control system that optimizes the load distribution of the system, particularly for the construction of turbines and foundations.

Huisman has partnered with German-based O&K Antriebstechnik, a member of the Bonfiglioli Group, its longtime supplier of gearboxes for offshore equipment. The FAT, which was conducted at O&K’s test facility in Hattingen and included numerous tests in motion, was a crucial component of a successful delivery of the gearbox. Huisman will proceed with full-load jacking demonstration trials after the gearboxes are delivered to one of its manufacturing locations.

With sophisticated control systems and enormous pinions, gearboxes, and amounts of power, Huisman has a wealth of expertise applying large-scale drive systems in offshore applications. Huisman will use its decades of experience in the jacking sector with the new jacking system.
