ABP to invest in offshore wind in the Netherlands

The largest pension fund in the Netherlands, ABP, wants to make direct investments in the North Sea’s large-scale wind energy production and management. The Noordzeker cooperation has been established with this goal in mind. The first offshore wind farm that Noordzeker will tender is IJmuiden Ver.

ABP will put out bids for significant projects to construct wind farms in the North Sea with Noordzeker. ABP will work with businesses, government, social organizations, and knowledge institutes in Noordzeker.

IJmuiden Ver

The first offshore wind farm that Noordzeker will tender is IJmuiden Ver. At IJmuiden, this region is around 60 kilometers off the shore and 200 kilometers square in size. At the end of 2023, the government will begin the registration process. In the first half of 2024, it is anticipated that it will be known to whom the project will be given.

Experience in wind energy

ABP already has an interest in a number of international wind farms as well as Dutch wind farms like Goeree-Overflakkee. ABP additionally made it possible for 1.2 million Dutch homes and businesses to be connected to fiber optics by investing in the creation of Glaspoort in association with KPN. This indicates that ABP has a lot of expertise leading socially conscious projects.
