Fugro has been awarded a contract by Energinet to conduct geotechnical site investigations for the North Sea I offshore wind development.
By 2030, the Danish government wants to increase offshore wind capacity by 4GW, and Fugro’s Geo-data will be utilized to help future bids in the region.
In order to reduce uncertainty and assist installers in choosing the optimal location for the wind turbines and export cables, Fugro’s Geo-data will offer essential insights on the seabed and subsurface conditions.
Fugro will mobilize several geotechnical vessels with investigative tools like the WISON Mk V Ecodrive and the SEACALF Mk V Deepdrive system for seabed cone penetration tests when fieldwork is expected to begin in 2024. The fieldwork is anticipated to last far into 2025, at which time results will be processed, tested in labs, and reported.
