Vattenfall Hollandse Kust Zuid 1&2, a joint venture between Vattenfall, BASF and Allianz, has issued an Invitation to Tender (ITT) for the removal of the damaged monopile in the offshore wind farm Hollandse Kust Zuid.
On January the 31st of 2022, the vessel Julietta D collided with one of the foundations of the wind farm, causing significant damage to this monopile. Further inspections were carried out to determine the exact nature and extent of the damage.
The tender entails the removal of the damaged foundation, including both the secondary steel and the monopile. The tendering process will be managed by Vattenfall’s construction team and aims for execution of removal starting in the first half of 2023. For more information see project website.
Meanwhile, progress is being made on the construction of the wind farm. Early November, the construction reached half way. In total, 140 Siemens Gamesa 11 MW wind turbines will be installed in the wind farm, some 18 kilometres off the coast between The Hague and Zandvoort.
