First turbine parts for Hollandse Kust Noord arrive in Eemshaven

The first wind turbine parts for the Hollandse Kust Noord offshore wind farms have arrived in the Dutch port of Eemshaven this week. The shipment contained tower sections.

The tower sections were transported on the mv Rotra Vente, operated by Deugro A/S. She came in the port under the agency of Amasus Agency Eemshaven/Delfzijl. The vessel, as well as her sister vessel Rotra Mare, were modified in 2022 at Holland Shipyards to be able to transport wind turbine components. The cover for the Rotra Vente was removed and she was equipped with sponsons around the hull in order to increase her beam for more deck space and stability. Also her bow opening and Ro/Ro ramp have been modified to allow smooth loading and discharging operations for the heaviest wind turbine equipment.

The components are part of the Siemens Gamesa SG 11.0-200 DD offshore wind turbines of which 69 in total will be installed at Hollandse Kust Noord.

Hollandse Kust Noord, located some 18 km off the Dutch coast at Egmond aan Zee, is owned by CrossWind, a joint venture of Eneco and Shell. Offshore construction started in October last year.
