Vos Prodect has been contracted by cable supplier TKF to supply offshore cable accessories for Windplanblauw which is currently being built in the IJsselmeer lake, in the northwest corner of Flevoland.
Vos Prodect is responsible for supplying all Cable Hang-Off systems for offshore installation. In addition, it will also supply its Onshore Landing Clamps, also known under the name Beach Clamp. This system ensures that the submarine cable is safely secured onshore. The bespoke designs of both Vos Prodect’s Cable Hang-Off System and the Onshore Landing Clamp are designed based on the project requirements of WindplanBlauw and client needs. Vos Prodect has successfully realized many projects with TKF for years.
Windplanblauw is being developed by Vattenfall and SwifterwinT. It conceerns a repowering project whereby 74 old wind turbines are replaced by 61 new and more powerful wind turbines that should eventually generate enough power to provide electricity to over 1 million Dutch citizens. This is approximately equivalent to the electricity consumption of 450,000 households on an annual basis.
Of the 61 wind turbines, 24 will be situated in the IJsselmeer outside the dike and 37 will be situated on land. These wind turbines have a combined capacity of about 340 MW. The 24 wind turbines (type Cypress 5.5 MW) for the nearshore portion of Windplanblauw are being provided by General Electric (GE). The foundations for the wind turbines are currently being built on the IJsselmeer.
Onshore, the last of 37 Vestas type V162-5.6 MW wind turbines was installed in November last year and are now being tested before full commissioning.
