Boskalis has made a start on the 2023 foundation installation campaign in the Changfang and Xidao offshore wind farm project (CFXD OWF) off Taiwan’s western coast.
The CFXD OWF is located approximately 15 kilometers off the coast of Changhua County, Taiwan and will generate a total capacity of 589 MW. CFXD OWF is a project by Danish fund management company Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) (75%) and Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited.
Boskalis, together with Taiwanese partner Hwa Chi Construction Co. Ltd., were awarded the foundation scope in October 2019. The project includes the transportation and installation of 62 three-legged jacket foundations and the accompanying 186 pin piles.
The foundation installation campaign started in 2021. Last year, Boskalis performed the installation campaign using their new crane vessel Bokalift 2. It was the vessel’s launching project. The 2023-campaign has started with Boskalis crane vessel Bokalift 1.
According to a source at CIP, Boskalis and Cip agreed some accelerations required to speed up the progress. A commercial operations date in Q1 of 2024 is anticipated. Image source: CIP
