Dura Vermeer and Friso Bouwgroep start new cable factory construction for TKF

Dura Vermeer and Aannemingsmaatschappij Friso (a division of Friso Bouwgroep) have begun work on the site at the Beatrixhaven in Eemshaven to build a new cable factory for BV Twentsche Kabelfabriek (TKF).

With this facility, TKF specializes in manufacturing the inter-array sea cables that link the wind turbines in offshore wind farms.

Heavy loading quay

The factory will be located on the Beatrixhaven’s heavy loading wharf and will have a much higher production capacity than the nearby Lochem facility. Starting soon will be the steel construction. Construction is being done by the Dura Vermeer Bouw Hengelo, Dura Vermeer Infra Oost, and Aannemingsmaatschappij Friso construction consortium.

After delivery, TKF will begin the initial production, according to expectations set by Dura Vermeer and Aannemingsmaatschappij Friso towards the end of 2023. 1200 kilometers of submarine cable can be produced annually if the factory is “on stream.”
