The winners of the tender for metocean missions in three as-yet-unidentified search areas for offshore wind generation have been announced by the Dutch Enterprise Agency (RVO).
The bid was broken up into three lots, each of which required an unique metocean (meteorological and oceanographic) study effort. Businesses may offer a quote for one or more lots.
The bids for sites 1 and 2 were finally won by GEOxyz from Belgium. The contract value for lots 1 and 2 is respectively EUR 3,100,000 and EUR 2,300,000 (excl. VAT).
The contract for lot 3 was obtained by the Netherlands business RPS consultant and engineering firm BV. The total amount of this deal is 3,627,335.00 euros.
Three metocean campaigns are being implemented as part of the work. Two different floating LiDAR systems plus a backup system to detect wind, wave, and current characteristics are used to gather the data for each location. The systems are ideally in stage 3 of commercial use of floating LiDAR technology according to the OWA roadmap.
The preferred commencement period for lots 1 and 2 and 3 is respectively Q4 2022 and Q1 2023.
