AGIX Energy BV, a Dutch company specializing in wind turbine dismantling and sales, is currently finalizing the dismantling of 13 Nordex N90 wind turbines at the Beauce wind farm in France.
These turbines are being replaced by new Vestas wind turbines, while the dismantled turbines are being sold for a second life in different projects.
The sales process for these turbines is in an active phase, with the components of one N90 2.5 MW BETA type unit already being purchased by a French customer for installation in a training center in France. By giving these turbines a second life, AGIX Energy is contributing to the promotion and education of wind energy.
Recycling of turbine components
AGIX Energy‘s commitment to the circular economy is evident through their dismantling process, which focuses on maximizing the reuse and recycling of the turbine components. This process not only reduces waste, but also decreases the environmental impact of wind turbine production by reducing the need for new turbines to be manufactured.
During her visit to the Beauce wind parks, AGIX Energy’s Managing Director Oxana Danilevich met with operational teams, customers, and recycling providers to ensure that the dismantling process is being carried out in accordance with the company’s commitment to sustainability.
Challenges
However, the process of dismantling wind turbines and giving them a second life is not without its challenges. One of the biggest challenges is ensuring that the dismantling process is carried out in a safe and environmentally friendly manner. AGIX Energy takes these concerns seriously and has implemented strict safety and environmental guidelines to minimize any negative impact.
Another challenge is the limited demand for second-hand wind turbines. Despite the growing interest in the circular economy and sustainable energy solutions, the market for second-hand wind turbines is still relatively small. This limits the number of turbines that can be given a second life and ultimately hinders the growth of the circular economy.
