Hamburg-based Connected Infrastructure Capital GmbH (CIC) recently announced the sale of a Dutch-German wind farm portfolio to a Luxembourg-based fund advised by the EB – Sustainable Investment Management GmbH (EB-SIM).
The portfolio comprises five operational wind farms with a combined capacity of approximately 85 MW, situated in both the Netherlands (4) and Germany (1).
The wind park portfolio encompasses both attractive commercial wind farms as well as a prototype site allowing turbine manufacturers to operate and test prototypes. CIC did not disclose the names of the wind farm projects in the Netherlands. However, one of the projects is likely to be the ECN Wind Energy Facilities (EWEF) in the Wieringermeer in which the company acquired full ownership in 2020. CIC is also owner of the Noordzeeweg wind project in the port of Amsterdam and a wind farm in Zeeland. Windpowernl is waiting confirmation from CIC.
The collective capacity of the portfolio provides green electricity to tens of thousands of homes and is contributing to the transition to clean energy sources by offering testing facilities to turbine manufacturers.
CIC has established itself as a player in the renewable energy sector, actively investing in constructing and managing wind farms projects across Europe. CIC said the decision to divest this part of its wind farm portfolio was based on a comprehensive evaluation process, in which CIC sought a partner that shared its long-term vision and commitment to sustainable investments.
EB SIM, an asset manager solely focussed on sustainable and impact investing, emerged as the ideal candidate. The addition of these wind farms to its managed portfolio further strengthens the company’s commitment to renewable energy and bolsters its position as a leading investor in the sector.
„We are delighted to announce the sale of this part of our wind park portfolio to a fund advised by EB-SIM,“ says Hans Jörn Rieks, Managing Partner of Connected Infrastructure Capital GmbH. „This transaction represents a significant achievement for CIC, and we are confident that the wind parks will continue to thrive under EB-SIM’s management, contributing to the ongoing transition to green energy in the respective local region.“
„We are pleased to add this exceptional wind park portfolio from Connected Infrastructure Capital to our portfolio,“ states Dr. Bernhard Graeber, Managing Director at EB-SIM. „These wind parks align perfectly with our investment strategy, focusing on sustainable assets that create long-term value for our investors while making a positive impact on the environment. We look forward to working closely with the existing teams and local stakeholders to ensure the continued success and growth of these wind parks.“
The completion of this transaction reinforces CIC’s position in the energy market. CIC remains committed to identifying, developing and operating innovative renewable energy projects that contribute to the sustainability agenda.
